Korea

Combining a long history of culture and tradition with modernity and youthfulness, Korea truly has something to offer the international traveler. Located in the heart of Northeast Asia, the Korean peninsula borders with Japan to the east and China to the west. In Seoul, the dynamic capital city, explore history with visits to the palaces, fortresses and museums, and then enjoy browsing in traditional Namdaemun Market, filled with shops offering goods of all kinds. A foodie paradise, explore the street food scene, dine on a delicious Korean BBQ dinner, and perhaps try preparing kimchi (spicy cabbage), bibimbap (rice mixed with meal and assorted vegetables), or japchae (glass noodles with sautéed vegetables) at a fun, hands-on cooking class. You might choose to take a tour of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) which brings you to the cease fire line established at the end of the Korean War. Ride the high-speed KTX train to Gyeongju, nicknamed "the museum without walls." Here you can visit ancient sites, including ones listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. Extend your trip to Busan, Korea's second largest city and major port where you will find traditional markets and fabulous marine city festivals. Nature lovers will want to head to Jeju Island, Korea's largest island that was formed by years of volcanic activities. In fact the entire island was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can enjoy the superb natural landscape, subtropical climate, and unique island culture and customs.
